The Mahgroynin Mountaineering club headed to Skye for New Year. We were comfortably accommodated in the Portree House Garden Cottages (www.portreehouse.co.uk) where we needed 5 cottages to accommodate the excellent turnout of 20 people. The weather was kind for the time of year and walks took in the Quiraing, The Storr, and the Coral Beaches amongst others. Being Mahgroynins the celebrations were of a high standard but their prolonged nature taxed even the younger members of the group, so the Munros were left for another day. The now legendary Mahgroynin Ceilidh band was in full swing, and fantastic they were too, I just hope the instruments survived. Special thanks to Tom and Francoise for organising a great start for what we hope will be a safe and happy 2006 in the hills.
